Xavier
Rodó

ISGlobal

Project coordinator
and ICREA Research Professor

Leads the CLIMA Program in ISGlobal. His background is in numerical ecology, climate dynamics and the understanding and simulation of climate impacts, particularly on infectious diseases such as malaria, dengue and cholera.

He led the development and implementation of a sister computational platform, ARBOCAT, aimed at modelling local outbreaks of dengue at the level of the nearly 950 municipalities in Catalunya.

In ARBOTHAI he particularly centers also on the analysis and modelling of dengue variability at the province level, as well as on the generation and integration of climate information for disease models.

Kanchana
Nakhapakorn

Mahidol University

Associate professor

Researches on the role of environmental factors on public health, disaster, and environmental management, with an interest in the integration of GIS, remote sensing, and geo-informatics to improve early-warning systems of environmental health, particularly flooding and droughts in coastal areas.

In ARBOTHAI she analyses environmental modulators of dengue facilitation and propagation, takes care of the local entomological and sensor sampling and coordinates the citizen science activities in the five local schools in the BMA.

Richard
Paul

Institut Pasteur

Senior Research Scientist

Expertise in vector-borne pathogen epidemiology and entomology.

Role: Fine-scale spatial analysis within Bangkok to detect dengue cases and Aedes aegypti mosquito hotspots and associated socio-economic, demographic and meteorological risk factors. Implement a mosquito control program targeting the hotspots.

Bertrand
Lefebvre

French Institute of Pondicherry, EHESP School of Public Health

Associate Professor of Global Health

His research has mostly focused on inequalities of access to health services and on inequalities of exposure to environmental hazards (dengue, air pollution) in the context of large metropolitan areas in Asia (Delhi, Bangkok).

In the frame of ARBOTHAI he looks at the role of human mobility and public transport network in dengue outbreaks diffusion.

Leonardo
Rafael Lopez

ISGlobal

Assistant Research Professor

With a background in bioinformatics (BSc) and a Ph.D. in Engineering, with a specialization in computational intelligence, signals, and systems, he has extensive experience in the mathematical and computational modeling of infectious diseases, with a focus on agent-based models, stochastic networks, and dynamic systems applied at both individual and population levels.

Desislava
Petrova

ISGlobal

Postdoctoral Researcher

Interested in how climate forecasts can be incorporated within health and other impact models to increase their predictive lead time, and to develop useful climate services in help of vulnerable communities and decision-makers.

She has participated in the development of prototypes of climate-driven early warning systems for dengue in Ecuador, as well as for temperature-related mortality on a pan-European scale.

Charles
Medous

ISGlobal

Postdoctoral Researcher

PhD in Mathematics specialized in stochastic modelling and simulations of populations.

Responsible for the ARBOBANG part of the ARBOTHAI project, which focuses on dengue outbreak predictions at the kwhaengs level in Bangkok.

Alejandro
Fontal

ISGlobal

Postdoctoral Researcher

Specialized in the application of data science to bioinformatics, epidemiology, and computational biomedicine.

His research focuses on understanding the environmental drivers of disease, with a particular emphasis on Kawasaki Disease, a pediatric vasculitis of unknown etiology.

Using methodologies such as time series analysis, GIS, and metagenomic sequencing, he investigates the complex interplay between environmental factors and disease onset.

Lluisa
de Yebra

ISGlobal

PhD in Molecular Biology

She researched on molecular topics related to gene-protein development and moved to the education field around twenty years ago, leading educational projects and innovating in the field of biological sciences for high-school education.

She is an expert on the development of online materials combining the wide array of tools available and learning while playing.

In ARBOTHAI she leads the educational citizen science component for use by teenagers in Bangkok schools.

Tridip
Sardar

French Institute of Pondicherry

Postdoctoral Researcher

He researches in applied mathematics, with a strong focus on mathematical biology and epidemiology. With a Ph.D. in Applied Mathematics he worked on mathematical and data-driven studies of communicable diseases such as cholera and dengue. His research interests include infectious disease modelling, fractional-order differential equations, and their applications in ecology and epidemiology.

With expertise in mathematical modelling, in ARBOTHAI, he contributes with computational simulations (using tools such as MATLAB, Python, and C), and advanced analytical methods, into the simulation of the spread, control, and prediction of dengue outbreaks in Thailand provinces.
